Anxiety Hypnotherapy FAQs

I have put together some of the most frequent questions I am asked about hypnotherapy for anxiety. My aim is to provide you with clear and straightforward answers to help you feel more confident and informed. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out.
What are the symptoms of anxiety?

There are numerous causes and symptoms for anxiety which can affect people in different ways. Some of the psychological concerns can be a heightened and prolonged state of worry and concern, a fear of existing or future events, an overwhelming concern for your health or the health of others, and distressing thought patterns regarding decisions, now or in the past.

Even the experience of anxiety can cause someone to worry more, creating the feeling of an endless cycle. The symptoms, however, can be different from one person to the next.

Does anxiety ever go away?
Yes. Whilst it’s true to say that we can all have anxious moments throughout life, prolonged and/or frequent anxious moments can begin to feel constant. It’s this experience of anxiety that can be moved on from, and life can return to a more calm and peaceful place day-to-day.

How can I calm my anxiety?
Anxiety can feel overwhelming but there are ways to find calm. Start small, like taking a walk or practicing mindfulness regularly. Lean on your support system, whether that’s friends, family, or a therapist. Most importantly, try to be patient and kind to yourself. Your mental wellbeing matters, and so a little, often, can reap great results in the long term.

How do I know I’m suffering with anxiety?

If you find yourself constantly worrying, feeling on edge, or having trouble sleeping, it might be a sign that prolonged anxiety has crept up on you. Anxiety can manifest in many different physical symptoms like a racing heart, excessive sweating, or muscle tension too. Often anxiety affects sleep as well.

The tricky thing is, we all experience anxious moments from time to time – but when it’s impacting your day-to-day life, that’s when it’s time to pay closer attention. The good news is that there are ways to manage anxiety, and to eventually get it under a sense of control once again. The key is that taking that first step is fundamental to moving on from this uncomfortable concern.

Anxiety is:

  • Your worrying is uncontrollable and causes distress
  • Your worrying affects your daily life, including school, your job, and your social life
  • You cannot let go of your worries
  • You worry about all sorts of things, such as your job or health, and minor concerns, such as household chores, more than required
