Molly approached me through my website with the hope that she could lose some weight which she felt had been an issue for a number of years. Not only that, there were many other personal concerns that she also wanted to address, from chronic pain to feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Presenting Concern

Having tried many different diets, some of which had worked but only for a short time, she always seemed to find herself back at the same weight, and feeling even more dejected.

Exercise had been very difficult to maintain, as she said she had little energy or motivation to get out for a run or to get to the gym.

She had undertaken surgery to restrict her food intake which did help her to drop weight considerably, but over the last year she had regained all that she had lost. She felt low, with extended bouts of sadness, and explained that she felt very lonely at times.

The Approach

Early in our work together, Molly and I discussed the psychological and physiological connection with weight change, why we can still gain weight even when diet and exercise are in play, and how she could begin to look in a different direction in order to have a more lasting impact.

As this was new information to Molly, she was apprehensive as to whether this new approach would work, but her continual openness to change was key to her continual improvement week after week.

We approached Molly’s progress holistically, that is, to help her advance ‘as a whole person’ and not just looking directly at her weight loss goals.

As someone with a varied, inconsistent, and sometimes complicated life, Molly had recently gone through a considerable life change, and a subsequent relocation had taken her away from her friendship group and, she felt, was a major contributing factor to her struggling with some isolation.

As she started to look at her life and discuss ways she could make some small, achievable changes, Molly began to experience more positive emotions, and happier feelings, and began to notice some changes in her appearance.

The weight she felt she was carrying decreased almost immediately and importantly, her life was improving in many areas; socially, and professionally, and she was gaining a reinvigorated sense of enthusiasm and energy.

Molly left me with the most wonderful quote. She said “I thought I’d be happy when I lost weight, but I’ve come to realise that I lost weight because I am happy”.

Molly’s Words

“My journey started just four weeks ago with the aim of losing weight.

I entered into it with an open mind, 100% commitment and a clear goal. With Nick’s help, I am thrilled with the results so far and well on my way to achieving that goal.

I would highly recommend Nick to anyone who needs help.”
